Oh My

Wendy pieced this delightful quilt and the colors are so fun.. This is a QuiltsEtc BOM quilt from 2007 or 2008? She has lime green rick rack on the inner border. So happy. Check out the cute outside border fabric (below)
Wendy delivered this quilt to me in June to be quilted . Sorry Wendy thanks for being so patient.
When Wendy picked up her quilt she shared a secret with me about the rick rack. I thought the secret was worth sharing. She wanted her quilt to be on point because of the basket block in the very middle. She wanted to use the BOM blocks as the filler blocks on the sides. When working with quilts on point you need to have half blocks for the edges for the quilt. However as you know to take care of the 1/4 inch seam allowance those filler blocks are a bit bigger than exactly half.(Those of you who have done quilts on point will know what i'm referring to)
Anyway long story short....Wendy did not want to make alot of extra blocks so ended up just cutting the original blocks in half, on the diagonal, (to save time) She then used the rick rack to cover up the fact that she lost her points ( not to be confused with taking a test and losing points, although Wendy is a University student right now and hates losing points on a test)..He he he . She is a true quilter, whatever it takes to make it work.... Great idea. The rick rack was an adorable aspect of this quilt and it served a great purpose besides. Genius
