Dianne in Panguitch is so ahead of the game. She sent me 3 adorable Christmas quilt tops, from the Mary Englebreit line. i will post the name of this pattern later. i'm thinking the "buggy barn" method (not to be confused with the Buggy Barn fabric line) . Pattern is Trees For Sale ( it is not a Buggy Barn pattern but is the "buggy barn" method)

Love of Learning, HMQS

Only one more week until the HMQS "longarm" trade show. i'm so excited. Every year i take classes and this year i thought "no way Jose' " (complications on the homefront). Well anyway, i was determined , so i found a way. Only one class , (2 hours) for me this year, but... i just bet... i come home with some great ideas.
That turns out to be very good for YOU, if you bring me your quilts, that is .

Turning Twenty with Pizazz

Susan will be so glad "it's quilted". I have had this quilt for 2 months, and her nephew is getting married soon. I love the Turning Twenty pattern . Black and White and Yellow is a nice choice. Very charming and a gigantic king size. Lucky nephew

Delightful Elephants

***Just Too Cute***

Soothing Pastels

Kathy chose a line from Buggy Barn, to piece this "Just Can't Cut It" pattern, for a nieces wedding gift. It is just lovely and very soothing . Off to sweet dreams. i think the "Just Can't Cut It" pattern is a great pattern to have on hand because it works up so fast .

Also fun to look at quilts that work up fast are Turning Twenty and Yellow Brick Road

Millie's Charmer

Millie teaches quilting classes at several fabric stores in her city in Wyoming. She teaches a great deal of "Block Of The Month" type classes( because, as i have said before, that is a great way for a quilter to learn great techniques). In return the fabric stores give her free fabric. That sounds familiar, i think we all like that part of the equation. Beautiful quilt.
***
i love the setting of this quilt
(some blocks are on point, some are not)

i love the dark background

i love that the boundaries are not clearly defined

(Art is supposed to imitate life)

Art Night Fundraiser

Tonight is my daughters, Shari's granddaughter's, art night fundraiser.
It helps raise funds to pay for art in their elementary school.

This is the class project my oldest daughter, Miss Sparkle's class painted.

It is a repoduction of a famous piece of art by Wassily Kandinsky.

It's called Kandinsky Jr.

I'm proud to say I was able to volunteer and help Miss Sparkle's class create Jr..

No adult touched this painting with a paint brush, it was all done by 4th graders.

Miss Sparkle and her partners' square is the bottom left corner.
Yup! It's my favorite.

It will be sold in a silent auction tonight.

I want it!

My mom wants it!

Isn't it amazing?!?
*****
i (shari) am so sad, someone wanted this art piece more than i did.
he/she was prepared to get it "no matter the cost"
WHAAAAAA :-(

BYU Blue Quilt

Kay has another grandson graduating from the BYU. Great idea for a gift . The couple will love it. Polyester batting gives this quilt a little poof .

Mechanics

My long-arm is sick, and breaking thread. i purchased an A-1 Elite almost 3 years ago. Since that purchase i have become a "tool box toting mama" and have learned a few mechanical skills.
Tonight i'm going to spend some quality time on Lola using allen wrenches, phillips screw drivers, regular screw drivers, pipe cleaners , fingernail files, oil and grease and a gentle touch.
If this tweaking doesn't work i'm gonna have to have a house call.

Happy Easter

For Easter this year we are having our traditional Christmas / Easter Brunch. Recipe's are forthcoming. .... Yumm , they are from my friend Claudia's Bed and Breakfast recipe collection.
(and yes Claudia is the same Claudia from the Quilt Walk Festival)
Multi -Talented Claudia

"Dishy" Sausage & Egg Holiday Breakfast
can be (mostly) made the night before
****
3/4 cup grated cheddar
1lb country sausage --browned
( i use Jimmy Dean... 1/2 spicey and 1/2 regular)
8oz sour cream
1 tsp dried ground mustard
Spray pyrex 9x13 with Pam and line with the grated cheese
Mix the browned sausage, sour cream, and dried mustard and spread on top of cheese lining .
Place covered in refridgerator overnight
Next morning whip together 1 dozen large eggs and pour over the refridgerated mixture. Top with 1/2 cup grated cheese and bake 300 for 35 to 40 minutes.
****Caution let the cold pyrex get close to room temperature before topping with eggs . When something refridgerator cold goes straight into a hot oven..... shatter(sometimes), just sayin'
.
.
Buttery Carmel Syrup
(for your Ego Waffles)
***
1 cup Sugar
1/2 cup butter (and i mean butter)
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 Tablespoon light Karo (corn syrup)
Place above ingredients in a 2 quart sauce pan (at least 2 Qts.... because in a few minutes you are going to get a chemistry lab reaction... fun) Bring to a boil and add 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (that will be your chemical reaction hee hee). Now boil this for 5minutes on medium heat. Remove from heat and add 1tsp vanilla
Try chopping some cashews or pecans to top your waffles

A Little Touch of Spring

Looks Like Easter To Me
Such a cute quilt for a 4 year old's newly decorated bedroom. Yummy, it reminds me of sherbet and sorbet. Beautiful quilt Kristalee.

Kade Is Getting Married

Darla's son is getting married very soon. Like many mothers in Utah, we have a notion, that "it's not a proper wedding, without a quilt from mom". It's such a fun, cute quilt and orange is such a happy color.

Beautiful Civil War Fabric Line

This is a modified 9 patch called the "nine patch shuffle". This works up very fast using "layer cake" fabrics from Moda. Rita made this one for her grandchilds wedding present. i just love the coral in this line
