Auction, A Family Tradition

Diane pieces a quilt every year for a family reunion auction ... The fabrics in the quilt are always left over fabric from previous quilts she has made. i love that idea, and it also makes the auction quilt more sentimental. (anyway i think so). The black background makes this a very stunning quilt..
ps..... Diane i am so glad you have returned to quilt making. You do wonderful quilts.

UVU Baseball

my machine is fixed (whew), so i'm back to quilting Diane's son recieved a baseball scholarship to UVU. She made him a t-shirt quilt, using some of his baseball themed t's. It's for his up coming birthday. Nice gift , will bring back many memories for sure.

Sweet Baby Jane

The pattern below reminds me of the quilt i posted May 6 2010 , Tan and White Classic.
Someone asked about the pattern for that quilt and this is the closest i could come. i really would like to make this up sometime because it does look so "crisp and clean and classic".
The "Pink Ribbon" cancer bracelet was a gift to me from Marlaine M.
My friend Cheryl has attended the Quilt Walk Festival with me for several years, but was unable to come this year. She was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and was suffering the effects of chemo therapy. Marlaine is a breast cancer survivor herself, and was so thoughtful to give us these beautiful bracelets. Kindness abounds amongst quilters.

Quilt Walk Festival ... i did it

It took weeks of preparation to break out ... but... i hit the road and headed south. Does this look familiar? Claudia's excellent quilt has been copied to t-shirts.
Bonnie Miles Class #12Here is Bonnie Miles quilt for the class i took. It is a gorgeous quilt.
i am so glad i got a chance to sit and piece a block for a change.
i am so out of practice, and only got 1 block done. At least it's a big block.

We had such a great trip. Fun friends for company. i got to spend the night at Leon and Claudia's house . Leon the master chef made us( me and my traveling buddies) an incredible breakfast on Friday . Then.....hiking in Red Canyon.

The trunk shows were great and i saw many familiar faces from Salt Lake and the Corner Canyon Quilt Guild. I regret i didn't get a chance to talk to Nanette from Freda's Hive. She did a great class on bags , but i had no way of getting there so early in the morning Thursday. Maybe i can buy a kit.

Ohhhh (btw) the rib -eye at Ruby's Inn was superb.

Home again, home again, jiggity jig

Quilt Walk... continued

Here is my one and only, semi -completed, block. It is on point and i seem to be challenged by blocks on point. I only sewed the bottom half together so i could remember how it all fits when i get to the next block i am using an Asian theme for this quilt. A sample of the other fabrics are included, except for the one below, which i forgot to add.
It will be great to get this quilt done.

Now for the very bad news; my long-arm is very ,very sick. Remember last month when i was acting like i was "all that" at being a mechanic. Not even close. While trying my skills i came very close to stabbing my eye out with a very "wicked", sharp, pointy weapon, type attachment. Lucky me it went in my forehead instead. i caught my finger between two very stubborn metal objects and totally jammed an electrical fuse wire into my knuckle.
***
Then ........ with some kind of huge wrench, i had in my hand, i put a "wicked" nick on my track . That is "a whole lot" BAD. So there you go. i am depressed..
Is there a full moon?

Once Upon A Time

My very first needle turn applique

Fourteen years ago i did a 'block of the month' needle turn applique class at Thimbles and Threads in Draper Utah. Pat Aoyagi taught the class and we used a pattern from 'Pieces of Cake'. I have had the top for this quilt done for 13 years. (Pat was a fantastic teacher, by the way). i think i will be ready to machine quilt this soon. Can't wait to have it done.

"Sue of the Orient"

Judy wants to hang this small quilt on a wall to give her room an Asian feel. It is a beauty for sure, and i especially love the little Chinese Sunbonnet Sue in the lower right corner. Great fabric choices. each of the dark fabric pieces has gold thread incorporated, i quilted it with gold thread. Looks great

pattern is from Quick Quilts spring of 2006 (Sue of the Orient)

Rainbow Before The Storm .?

Maybe Sterling can explain this one. Not likely, it's Sunday night and Sterling is off. Anyway, it was a beautiful, short lived lightning storm.

Another Wedding

Deanna has another son getting married and she pieced a fabulous quilt for him. This line from Moda is "eye candy" for sure. She shops at Gardners in Ogden and got her inspiration in that store. So beautiful . She used a plain yellow fabric on the back and with the verigated thread the other side is stunning also.

the pattern is from a small book called "This and That" from Birchwood Lane and the actual pattern is Evergreen Lane . For those interested in this pattern the e-mail address of the designer is pandsf@frontiernet.net , fabric by Ches Moi ...'Boutique'
