World War II Hero--My Dad

On May 6th 1944 my dad was on a ship in the Atlantic Ocean, awaiting his turn to land on the Beaches of Normandy.... On May 7th he forged through the bloody waters to begin his heroic effort to stop an evil man from destroying democracy and goodness on the European Continent.

(please note his bronze star for unusual valor)

His tour of duty was the European Stage and included many important battles . The last big effort being, the Battle Of the Bulge. WWII was a gut wrenching experience for a young farm boy, from a small southern Utah town. For 50 years he would say nothing about it. For all my "young life" i had no idea what a hero my dad was, and how many mighty miracles were poured down upon him.........

A Blessed Hero

"Shop Hop" 2001 These are the blocks i pieced from the very 1st "Shop Hop" (greater Wasatch Front)in 2001.

i got the blocks pieced (very asymmetrically), quilted, bound,

and onto my kitchen wall on Saturday, Sept 8th 2001.

Three days after hanging this Americana Quilt... at approx. 6:30 a.m. (MDT) on Tuesday, September 11th, the United States experienced a "horror" within her shores .

None will forget where they were ,

what the were doing,

and exactly what they were thinking when that happened.

This quilt will always be a part of my experience.
